Whether you follow a lunar or solar calendar, we are well into the new year. Regardless how it is going so far, it can always be better!
So here is a gift you can give yourself this Valentine’s Day!
In my consultancy I find that most of us need to divest ourselves of ‘stuff’. We all have stuff around that we don’t like, want or need but it has found a permanent place in our environment. And btw, we barely notice it’s there. The problem is that while it is there, it is sucking up vital chi.
So the first thing to do pick a spot…any spot…like that bookshelf, your front closet, a desk drawer, your shoe rack…whatever, and take a hard, clear look. Do you love those shoes, will you reread that book, does that jacket really fit?
Here’s a favorite quote of mine by the 19th century designer William Morris,
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”.
I know that we are all very well aware that de-cluttering is ‘the thing’ and lots has been written about it. Although this is not my expertise, the quote by William Morris resonated with me long before I studied feng shui. So I am here to offer you a 27 Day Challenge. Your very own Valentine gift to you!
Here goes…for 27 days, commit to throwing out, giving away or donating 2 things a day. That’s it! Start a bag and every day, like brushing your teeth, put 2 things in the bag that will leave your office or home. Anything! paper, pens, clothes, plates, books, unwanted gifts, photos, electronics, etc. Maybe it is worn out, never worn, disliked, used up, out of date, collecting dust…whatever! Get rid of it!
There are only 3 Rules:
1. Throw 2 things out a day. Of course you can choose to go for more but I want this game to be easy.
2. Here is the catch, if you do miss a day you have to start from Day One!
3. Repeat tossing 2 things a day for 27 consecutive days.
27 is a powerful number for completion and manifestation.
Start when you know that you’ll be around for 27 days but start ASAP!
I am doing this right besides you. I am up to day 12! We may all be starting on different days, but the commitment is the thing! Speaking of which, here is another one of my favorite quotes,
“Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiation or creation, there is one elementary truth…that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves. too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in ones’s favor all manner of incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man would have believed would have come his way.
Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace, and power in it.”
W.H. Murray, Scottish Himalayan Expedition 1951
Here’s to changing the things we can for ourselves and our world! Keep me posted. I am looking forward to your free consultation.
Happy Valentines Day and if you haven’t done so already,
