Year of the Yin Metal Rabbit 4709

The following information is compiled from a large group of resources. Among them is: “Out of Harm’s Way Like a Witty Hare” – (the 2011 calendar of H.H. Grandmaster Lin Yun and Khadro Crystal Chu Rinpoche).  Also, the “Classic Chinese Almanac – Year of the Metal Rabbit – Xin Mao – 2011” by Dr. Edgar Sung.

Chinese Zodiac

For those of us less familiar with the Chinese Zodiac, it is made up of 12 animal signs and 5 elements.  These make a 60-year cycle. This is the year of the Metal Rabbit or Golden Hare. Ancient lore says thatBuddha invited all of the animals in the world to join him for the New Year celebrations.  However, only 12 animals bothered to turn up. As a great reward, Buddha named a year after each one of them. The years run in the order that the animals arrived to celebrate with Buddha.  They start with the Rat and ending with the last guest, the Pig. Rabbit

The Yin Rabbit is an introspective, home loving pacifist. This year will have its share of conflicts in the world. However, diplomacy and peaceful solutions will have every opportunity to exert its influence. Peaceful solutions are possible.

If a conflict cannot be avoided the Rabbit will take appropriate measure to be self-protective. As the Hare is known for its quick and nimble movements it can leap over obstacles and show great resilience when confronted with calamities. In general, this will be a slower paced and a less intense year than the previous year of the Tiger.

In line with the Rabbit’s love of privacy, nations will be more concerned about their own backyards and less focused on other countries. As domestic unrest grows, governments will be forced to place their domestic agendas above the demands of international co-operation.

Rabbits are sharp in their business dealings and self-preserving of their creature comforts, so it is a year that home and family will have priority. The real estate market will establish a new solidarity and buyers and sellers will have more confidence. Along with this, interest in the arts will flourish in the Rabbit year.

This Year

It is a good idea for all of us to ‘clear house’ both physically and metaphorically. In other words clean up outstanding debts, issues and generally complete things. All signs will do well to perform the ‘Golden Cicada Sheds Its Shell’ ritual, along with ‘Welcoming in the Wealth God’ and ‘Changing the Chi of the Environment’.

According to Flying Star Feng Shui, for every environment the Northwest sector is where wealth is coming from in 2011 and the East is the source of negativity. It is advised to stay away from renovations in the East. In addition a ‘Salt Cure’ will help to mitigate any ill effects from the Five Yellow Star in the East.

Two very traditional symbols represent the Chinese New Year. Kum Quats, or, Orange Trees, symbolize wealth. Red Envelops are exchanged with small amounts of money for good luck (called Hong Bao.)

Zodiac Animals

Each zodiac animal has its own qualities that are consistent year to year, yet every sign will be influenced by the year’s animal sign. Below are general tendencies for each animal this year. Please note that fortunes can be mitigated or enhanced with Feng Shui, rituals, meditations and transcendental adjustments. A personal in depth reading will reveal more specifics for you for each month. Remember that, even the luckiest sign (the Dog this year) has its cautions, and the unluckiest (the Dragon and Rooster) have their bright spots.

TENDENCIES FOR THE 12 CHINESE ANIMALS:

RAT – 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008

The Rat is in a mutually offensive relationship with the Hare and thus disputes of all kinds are possible. The ‘Golden Cicada’ transcendental adjustment (see above) would be a useful protection. Be mindful of people who would like to see you fail and be careful whenever signing any legal documents. On the plus side there will be happy events, your career can advance and projects can materialize. Luck with money is fair but your romantic luck is booming. Females particularly have good marriage ‘chi’ while males in a relationship should be cautious of any affairs that would interfere with marriage, family and work. Whether for work or pleasure your creativity is heightened. You can either carry a Rabbit charm or a Pig + Ram for extra protection.

OX – 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009

The Ox is in a good position to change careers or direction in life. But do carefully check all business or investment opportunities that may come your way. Any health issue should be attended to quickly. It is important for the Ox to get plenty of R + R this year along with regular exercise. Inauspicious potentialities can be avoid by both attending more joyous celebrations (borrowing the ‘chi’ of happiness) and by doing more good deeds (building positive karma.) You may find yourself in the right place and time to meet someone special or strengthen an important relationship. Oxen would do well to do the ‘Golden Cicada Ritual’ and to carry a Dog charm.

TIGER – 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010

This year Tigers are free of last year’s intensity from ‘Sitting Atop the Year God,” and the more auspicious stars should bring you assistance from helpful people. Giving thought to people’s good advice will enhance wealth and recognition. With careful planning and budgeting, Tigers can enjoy a time of monetary increase whilst easing financial burdens. They must observe all regulations and be careful with their speech. Avoid potential problems by harmonizing relationships as opposed to being ‘right.’ Traveling to a place you’ve wanted to see as well as buying a home, are very definite possibilities. The Dog is the right charm for you.

RABBIT – 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011

The Hare is said to be “Sitting Atop of the Year God” which means luck can go from one extreme to another. On the one hand, this may be a most favorable year in regards to your career. There will be great advancement and recognition. If the Rabbit is considering a different career, this is a very good time to explore those options. This may be a time of increased fortunes while some predict that finances can fluctuate a great deal. You may meet your significant other this year or deepen an already existing relationship. To keep any inauspicious events (and there are some lurking) from harming you, do the ‘Golden Cicada Ritual’ on New Year’s Eve and for 2 additional consecutive days, enshrine the “Tai Sui’ or Year God as well as install the 5 Buddha Firecrackers protection. Most importantly, do not stress over decisions, get enough rest and remember to enlist the support of friends and loved ones during any challenging times. The Rabbit too does well to carry its best friend the Dog.

DRAGON – 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000

The Dragon is in conflict with the Rabbit astrologically and thus uncertainties and setbacks make for a year that is not very smooth. There can be discord with friends and relatives. In addition health and legal issues can be challenged. Yet if the Dragon protects itself with the ‘Golden Cicada’ (to be performed on 3 consecutive days like the Rabbit), as well as other recommended rituals throughout the year, all should be well. The positive foundation that is laid this year will greatly enhance the Dragons prospects in 2012 when they find themselves in their own year. Doing protective rituals and carrying a Ram + Pig will go a long way.

SNAKE – 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001

Travel is well aspected for the Snake. As a matter a fact, the more he travels (especially abroad) the better things will be romantically, financially and health wise. Because of some pesky stars there is potential for unexpected troubles everywhere. But good karma will build insurance if he does some charity work and/or makes donations to the causes that matter to him. Here too, performing the ‘Golden Cicada Sheds Its Shell’ for 3 consecutive days starting on New Year’s
Eve (Feb 2nd) along with carrying a Dog will dispel dangers.

HORSE – 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002

Like the Rat, the Horse is at a 90-degree confrontation to the Hare and yet there are a number of auspicious stars paving the way for a relatively good year. Horses will have good romantic relationships, attend many happy occasions and receive help from benefactors. Profits will come from investments and ventures. Watch your verbal communications as arguments can lead to fallouts and loss. Doing the right thing now will produce very positive results for some future time when you will need it. The ‘Golden Cicada Sheds Its Shell’ ritual will be very protective as well as carrying a Pig + Ram.

RAM – 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003

The past couple of years have been tough for the Ram and 2011 will be so much more positive due to its Three Harmonies position with the Pig and Rabbit. Career and finances will be positive but make sure not to overspend. With all the new excitement, Rams need to take good care of their health, avoid their tendency for superiority and circumvent all arguments. ‘Welcoming the Wealth Gods of Fortune’ and the ‘Treasure Box’ adjustment are particularly recommended.

MONKEY – 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004

With the conflictive Tiger year behind him, the Monkey has much good fortune in store. Career, promotion, investments and all other business opportunities are well aspected. This is a good year to start new routines especially those that can benefit health, like good diet and exercise. Remember ‘as one sows, one reaps.’ Stay humble (tough for Monkeys), tolerant and forgiving, in any conflict, ‘go with the flow’ so to speak. Carrying a Dog will enhance your opportunities.

ROOSTER – 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005

The Rooster is in direct conflict with the Rabbit and thus it is advised that he be conservative, as it is a quiet year for them naturally. Be cautious in everything you do. Do not lend money, read the fine print. Pay more attention to family and charity work in order to build good karma. It is advised to perform ‘The Golden Cicada Sheds Its Shell’ for three consecutive nights starting the New Year’s Eve – Feb 2nd. Roosters should carry a Ram + Pig.

DOG – 1910, 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006

As the Dog is the best friend of the Rabbit, it can look forward to a stellar year. Hard work is recognized and socially, professionally and financially things should be in an upswing. This is a good time to get married, change careers, or make investments. In your enthusiasm be careful of wasteful spending, inappropriate relations or jealousies. Even the Dog does well to carry a Dog.

PIG – 1911, 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007

The Pig is part of the Three Harmonies configuration with the Ram and Rabbit, thus there is potential for good fortune. Whatever your station, advancement is imminent. Yet there is a word of caution when making an investment, as there seems to be those that would like to see the Pig fail. As the Pigs are generally lucky, they should focus on their good fortune and give back wherever they can, which will offset any negativity. The ‘Golden Cicada’ would certainly be protective at this time, and carrying a Dog would increase the prospects for good things.
