The Puff Factory in Hood River, Oregon
This is the 3rd in my series of unique commercial projects I’ve had the privilege to work on. (If you missed the others, you can find the Assemblage and Title of Work here.)
I first met Jacqueline Alexander in November of 2015 In NYC. It’s hard to believe its been 4 years ago! At that time, Jacqueline had recently moved back to Portland, OR. She was starting to plan a factory to flash freeze fruit in Hood River, Oregon where she owns a fruit farm, named Morale Orchards. It grows more than 400 metric tons of fresh European and Asian pears annually and she got the idea to transform the fruit into healthy snacks.
I consulted on the factory plans as they were being formulated. Then in June 2016, I flew out to Oregon and worked side by side with Jacqueline, performing the first of 3 day long rituals, to clear and honor the land.
The first time I traveled to the property (that would birth what is now known as The Puff Factory), I was awe struck by the beauty. The drive along the Columbia River from Portland opened to blue skies, crisp, clear air and breathtaking views of Mt. Hood. All of which made for an very auspicious start.
In August of that year, we strategically placed large double terminated quartz crystals in the outer perimeter of the foundation before the cement was poured, to further energize the property and prepare it to received the factory.
With most large construction projects, there are times that the site needs further clearing. The building process itself may create the need for deeper levels of cleansing.. So to insure the factory was duly purified and blessed, in January of 2018, we performed a final ritual. At this time we added a large crystal in the Tai Chi (or center) of the factory’s foundation to balance and harmonize the project.
The 29,500 square-foot Puff Factory had it official opening in May of this year. It has started to transform fruit from the Hood River Valley and greater Northwest into healthy snacks via a patent-pending technique, developed in partnership with the Oregon State University Food Innovation Center in Portland. The finished “puffs” are sold nationally under a new brand, Know Your Fruit.
As part of her mission, Jacqueline Alexander is committed to bringing good quality jobs to rural America while reducing agricultural waste. She is an amazing visionary who combines her intelligence with focused intentions to produce awesome results.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Jacqueline on this extraordinary project and look forward to seeing it thrive.
May the start of the holiday season be a time of good health and joy!
