Abundance
The Cornucopia is a symbol of abundance specifically related to agriculture as popularized by the Ancient Greeks. It is symbolized by a horn-shaped wicker basket that normally is full to the brim with a bountiful harvest. Especially fruits and vegetables and most associated with this time of year..
To have an abundance of something is to have more than you need. In a spiritual context, the notion of abundance is less about material conditions. It revolves instead (once basic needs are met), around an appreciation of life in its fullness, joy and strength of mind, body and soul. This is the cultivation of respect for the creative energy of the universe..
Yet, we know that so many of us do not have their basic needs met (*see below for a way to help). And it can seem hackneyed to speak of ‘gratitude’ at Thanksgiving if we are not deeply connected to the truth of what that is for us.
