Year of the Earth Pig 4717

Year of the Earth Pig 4717
February 5, 2019 – January 24, 2020

Year of the Earth PigThe following information is compiled from a large group of resources and there are many (sometimes conflicting) interpretations on the year ahead. Sometimes differing interpretations can help us better understand the year. For those of us less familiar with the Chinese Zodiac, it is made up of 12 animal signs and 5 elements, comprising a 60 year cycle. The first day of Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between January 21st and February. 20th. In 2019, the first day of the Lunar New Year will be on Tuesday, February 5th, initiating the Year of the Earth Pig which ends January 24, 2020.

Ancient lore says, Buddha invited all of the animals in the world to join him for the New Year celebration, but only 12 animals bothered to turn up. As a great reward, Buddha named a year after each one of them and they run in the order that the animals arrived to celebrate with Buddha, starting with the Rat and ending with the last guest, the Pig.  Thus, this year completes the full rotation of the 12 zodiac signs.

In general the Earth Yin Pig seeks Universal Harmony. We can take heart in knowing that this year is lead by an honest, kind and reasonable creature.   The Pig is in 3 harmonies with the Rabbit and Ram.  These 3 strive for beauty and are intellectual and philosophical in their calm approach to life.  Yet the Pig’s best friend is the Tiger.  Thus it is the Tiger charm that most of us should carry to keep the Pig happy.  Only the Snake and Monkey, who are not great friends with either the Pig or the Tiger, should carry both the Rabbit and Ram to help appease the Pig and protect their fortunes.

The 5 Elements

(which you can read about at https://sacredcurrents.com/about-elements/) are Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal.

This year’s Earth Pig is incompatible to its natural element – Water. Water is commonly associated with emotions and intuitions.  In general, the Yin Earth Pig, with Earth on top and Water below, is symbol of peace and relaxation on the outside with under currents of danger, unrest and deception inside.  There will still be conflict and disharmony in international relationships and unfortunately natural and environmental disasters will also prevail.

The industries that will perform well in the year of the Pig will be related to Wood element and Earth element.  Wood industries are environmental, fashion, media, books, education, plants and flowers.  Earth industries are property, insurance, mining, and high tech.  Fire industries being energy, finance and entertainment are productive but not so profitable. The other industries of Metal – banking, machinery, cars, and those of Water – shipping, transport, communications – are not so prosperous year in 2019.

 Lunar Year

Prior to the Lunar New Year, it is a good idea for all of us to ‘clear house’ both physically and metaphorically.

In other words clean up outstanding debts, issues and generally complete things before the lunar New Year. The Chinese literally sweep their homes clean, taking out all the bad karma from the year out the door.

All signs will do well to perform the ‘Golden Cicada Sheds Its Shell’ ritual, along with ‘Welcoming in the Wealth God’ and ‘Changing the Chi of the Environment.’  Email me if you are interested in knowing more about these rituals.

Flying Star Feng Shui

According to Flying Star Feng Shui, the Tai Chi is where the wealth star (the 8 star) is residing in 2019. This area will be enhanced with activity, a water element or something moving like a kinetic sculpture.  It is important that the center of a home or office be as open as possible so that the wealth star is not ‘locked’ or limited.

<[style=”color: #454545;”>Other stars that are significant in Flying Star methodology is the 5 Yellow Star, which can be the cause of instability and misfortune and located in the SW this year.  I put a ‘salt cure’ there but others hang a metal wind chime to dissolve the energy.  When analyzing an environment with Flying Star feng shui there are always two other 5 star positions that are permanent to that floor plan and where I also put salt cures.

The 2 star, symbolizes sickness, and this year is in the Northeast in 2019. The traditional method to dissolve this 2 is to hang a string of six metal coins in the affected area in the NE.  A metal sculpture will do too.

The Grand Duke this year is in the Northwest this year and it is recommended that no substantial construction work be done in this direction.

“Three Killings” is in the West this year and it best not to sit with your back in that direction.  The bad star 3 is a star of conflict and robbery is in the South and it is best to put something red there to neutralize its influence . The 7 star representing scandals is in the SE.  3 pieces of bamboo in water will help to protect the SE.</[>

 Zodiac

Each zodiac animal has its own qualities that are consistent year to year, yet every sign will be influenced by the Dog’s energy this year.

Below are some insights for each zodiac animal in 2018. Please note that fortunes can be reduced or enhanced with Feng Shui, rituals, meditations and transcendental adjustments and that all people have their own karma to consider. Remember that even the luckiest signs (the Rabbit, Horse and Tiger this year), have their cautions and the unluckiest (the Ram, Ox, Dragon) have their bright spots.

All of the transcendental adjustments suggested are available in H.H. Grandmaster Lin Yun’s Year of the Rooster Almanac available at the Lin Yun Temple website www.yunlintemple.org/

Individual adjustments can be acquired through Sacred Currents by sending 9 Red Envelopes with $2 in each – $18 in total, and a self addressed white envelope to:

Tradition

According to ancient tradition there are 3 types of luck – Heaven, Earth and Man-made luck.Heaven luck is your astrology, which cannot be changed. We cannot change the time, place or family we were born into. Earth Luck is where Feng Shui comes into play and can either strengthen your luck by attracting auspicious energies, and protect or prevent negative energy from coming to us. Manmade Luck is what we create through networking, education, good habits, self-improvement, meditation, etc.
