Feng Shui in the Time of Corona
With you in Spirit
The coronavirus is unifying the world like very few things have in most of our lifetimes. Jeffrey Kluger of TIME Magazine wrote back on 2/4/20 “Pandemics are perversely democratic. They’re nasty, lethal and sneaky, but they don’t discriminate. No matter your age, ethnicity, religion, gender, or nation, you’re a part of the pathogenic constituency.”
Along with doing everything possible to stay healthy and heal those who have been afflicted, this disease holds the potential for us to recognize our connection to every human being on the planet, as never before. The pandemic has already fostered compassion and rallied resources for our common good, and herein lies the silver lining of this great challenge we face.
Life on the outside
The few nice days in New York this month (before I have been spending most of my time indoors), inspired me to walk through Central Park where I came upon the beginnings of spring. I know I am not alone in the delight a tiny crocus or bright daffodil can inspire. They remind me of the profound potency of nature, to come back from the dark, cold winter and renew itself. Being in nature and experiencing gratitude have a very grounding effect.
Speaking of which, even if you are ‘sheltering in place’ or quarantined, crack a window! Fresh circulating air is so important for all all of our environments, anytime. Fresh air balances the positive ions (which are the ‘bad’ ones) that collect in an environment from the lack of fresh air and especially from electronics.
Back to Basics
There certainly are no feng shui adjustments for the coronavirus. Yet, as this is a traditional time for ‘spring cleaning’, and a clean and clutter free environment is a healthier one. While spending more time in my house, I plan on making the best of this unique opportunity to divest myself of files, books, keepsakes, clothing and the like, that are still in excess (yup, I am right there with you). I’ll keep my expectations down but small steps each day will help.
The clients I am working with during this time also want to clear their home of energetic ‘heaviness’, negativity, and the residue of the past. Optimizing their feng shui and conducting a space clearing/blessing ritual are the best ways to make one’s home a healthy sanctuary. I work virtually with clients by phone, FaceTime and Zoom video. It is a highly effective and economical way to stay motivated, plan for the future and optimize a single room, an entire home or business.
Email me and we’ll set a time to discuss the possibilities.
Gratitude
Jeffrey Kluger ends his article in TIME with, “Pandemics will always be characterized by their randomness, pitilessness, and power to sicken and kill. The human response, when it’s at its best, is defined by collective courage and compassion, a “not-on-our-watch” refusal to let a disease have its way with fellow humans. And to limit the impact of – and ultimately defeat – the current coronavirus pandemic, that’s exactly what we’ll need.” I second that!
To all those that are feeding our children and elderly, taking care of the sick, making deliveries, keeping our infrastructure going, and in the front lines of government – I thank you with a deep bow of gratitude.
May you and your family be blessed with health and strength for the
days ahead – and May the Force Be With You. Judith
