In last month’s newsletter, I wrote about the seasonal transition. I hope yours has been smooth. I left NYC earlier this month in what felt like a tropical rainforest – humid and damp – and came back from the Bay Area, to wintery temps!
During my trip (I am always in heaven when visiting northern California) I delivered 2 sessions of my webinar ‘Feng Shui for the 21st Century’. This past week, I discussed a variety of architectural details that feng shui is concerned with. So with the inspiration of the holiday season (hey, Halloween is the start of it, right?) and people decorating their front door, I thought it apropos to discuss the ‘Mouth of Chi”.
No matter how many other entrances there may be in a home or business, or how often they are used, it is only the architectural front door that qualifies as the “Mouth of Chi”. Like the mouth of the body, this is the place that feeds the entire environment.
Some important points to remember are:
Clients often ask me if they should paint their front door red. As far as I am concerned, there is no generic answer that works for everyone and every place. The benefit of the color red in Chinese culture, is that is considered protective and high energy. However there are reasons this does not work for many environments. More importantly, the question is how does the front door support the occupants of the house or building? Does it distinguish the ‘Mouth of Chi’ to bring energy to the environment? Is the home or business balanced in its environment?
All of these points and how to address them can be determined with a feng shui assessment – using a variety of modalities. I am happy to discuss those with you Contact Judith »
