It’s Elemental…

whitest paint

Our hot planet and neighborhoods are certainly not ‘good’ feng shui. Fire & Water Elements are out of balance in our world and it behoves us all to look for small ways we can help to tip the scales in a favorable direction.

Interestingly, I’ve read 2 unrelated pieces this week that discuss how Metal Element is cooling.

This paint is not yet available and obviously not suitable for interiors. However for the remainder of this fiery summer season, there is still time to throw a white cover on your dark sofa, add a wind chime on the west or northwest of your home, open up a dark area with a mirror, or add (very radical here) a watery element in the south!

First I came across this article from the Smithsonian Magazine: “The World’s Whitest Paint’
“This ultra-white color reflects up to 97.9 percent of sunlight and may reduce our reliance on air conditioning. In spring last year, a team from Purdue unveiled the first ultra white paint – a product so white that it set a Guinness World Record. The key was barium sulfate, which allowed the paint to reflect 98.1 percent of sunlight and cool surfaces by up to 19 degrees Fahrenheit compared to their surroundings.”

“For comparison, commercially available paints on the market today can only reflect 80 to 90 percent of sunlight, meaning they absorb a lot more light and heat. The ultra-white paint, meanwhile, cools surfaces by emitting more heat than it retains—and it doesn’t use any electricity. This engineered paint has the potential to cool the exteriors of airplanes, cars, trains and even spacecraft.”

beautiful necklaceNext meet my friend JONATHAN MEIZLER and his stunning Jewlery and Accessories at ‘title of work’.

In his latest newsletter, Jonathan said, “Due to the electrical and thermal conductivity present in certain metals, it is a scientific fact that the natural cooling properties of silver and gold can reduce excessive heat in one’s body.”

“When the precious metal comes into contact with ones skin, it automatically improves heat circulation and regulation throughout ones body….another reason to wear more jewelry.”

Luckily, I am a big silver jewelry wearer! Additionally this summer I’ve exchanged furry & heavily textured things like pillows (cozy & warm for winter), for smoother, sleeker pillows & fabrics. I’ve even changed my screen saver to a cool scene (see the California coastline below :=).

Feng Shui is not a one size fits all, but a personalize, design centered practice.
Using a visual analysis, along with the age of your house, the compass direction of your front door and everyone’s age in the household, I offer you prescriptive solutions to the issues you need help with.

Harmony & Balance are the Source of Wellbeing.
Keep Cool this Summer
