Letting Go in Fall

,,Sacred Currents newsletter logo
autumn field

I may have mentioned before that the start of September in the Fall has always felt more like the beginning of the new year to me than January 1st. Perhaps I am in an old school paradigm or maybe the season change is more dramatic for me when summer descends into fall. Or maybe it is because the lunar new year of Rosh Hashanah is upon us.

I am closing out the summer season by completing a small renovation of my apartment. That includes pouring through 50+ years of saved memorabilia of all kinds. It has been a very emotional and arduous excavation. There have been those things I’m ready throw or give away. Those things I can’t part with and the real challenge is in those things I can’t decide what to do with. These are things I think I want but simply not sure where they fit in my life going forward or how to deal with them.

Sometimes I can be a samurai and can let go of things wholesale (occasionally with remorse as that thing comes back to mind). Other times, I am paralyzed to make a decision. Yet, I was encouraged by a friend that just wrote me. “Once it will be done,” they said, “You will feel unburdened and truly leave something behind.” So, the freedom of unburdening the future (by letting go of the past), and not being attached to the idea of who I am or what defines me, is the challenge.

Of course most of us are aware that feng shui and many other philosophies recommend letting go.  They recommend being unattached in order to create both freedom and new opportunities. So, if you feel stuck in any area of your life, start an excavation of your own, even if it is one drawer at a time. I know all my feng shui adjustments will be much more effective when there is space for them. And although there is no wrong time to do a clearing ritual, after my physical purge, the energetic one will be a true blessing.

Some of the things I am not willing to let go of are the beautiful silk pillows I made back when I was wholesaling my original feng shui accessory collection to high end boutiques and spas.

Each silk embroidered sachet pillow has been beautifully and loving preserved. I’ve decided to sell the few pieces I have left. Every month I will offer another design.

This month you’ll see the pillow embroidered with the Chinese calligraphy symbol for Peace. The symbol is in blue thread on black silk, filled with buckwheat and lavender. Each of the 4 corners has an enameled bead attached to it and measures approximately 6.5” X 6.5”

The symbol for Peace is called P’ing. The character for ‘peace’ illustrates a vital principle in classical Chinese thought – the principle of balance between opposing forces. When there is equilibrium among humans, then nature and the heavens are balanced, and peace prevails.

This collection of silk sachet pillows retailed for $72-$84 in exclusive shops and spas. I am selling them now for $54 – which includes tax and shipping in the USA. Please write and I will send you my Venmo or Zelle information if you’ are interested in purchasing one. I only have a few of each design.

May the start of your fall season inspire you
to create space in your environment & life.
And May Peace Prevail on Earth.
