We are experiencing a planet on fire, underwater and highly contagious. How does feng shui relate to our present realities? These things are not ‘normal’ but a result of the planet being out of balance.
The elements of Fire (in the south) and Water (in the north) are diametrically opposed on the bagua and are the 2 Elements (out of 5) that have a singular position.
We certainly need fire for warmth, air & water for life (remember feng shui means ‘wind & water’). In balance Fire is ‘controlled’, offering warmth and illumination. Out of control it burns everything in sight.
A person or business, that has their Fire element in balance, is highly regarded. If there is ‘too much’ Fire, perhaps there will be scandals or lawsuits. Too little Fire element and you may not be noticed at all.
Water is our very substance, yet out of control water drowns, carrying everything in its path. Conversely, the lack of water creates drought and nothing survives. Water element in balance provides intellectual capacity, new opportunities and good cash flow for a person or business. If there is too little Water in a person’s chi, there may be very narrow thinking. Too much Water, and opportunities can slip through your fingers.
So why am I telling you what you what you may already know? It’s because I have come to realize that anything I want healed in the world I must first heal in myself. Coming into balance in my relationships, body and environment, makes a difference to me and it’s what we can all do for ourselves and for one another.
With all the modern methods we have for fighting fires it seems Mother Nature is winning (as she always will). Although there are advanced methods for locating water, this NYT article about water dowsing or ‘water witching’ as it is called, got my attention. ‘Two Rods and a ‘Sixth Sense’: In Drought, Water Witches are Swamped’. Dowsing is not a traditionally respected practice, however it is pretty effective.
The article discusses the same methodology I use when evaluating an environment for its energy or chi. How chi travels in a home or commercial space – if there are disturbances or stagnation – can be determined with the use of dowsing rods or L-rods.
When an area is particularly disturbed, I often take out my pendulum to ask more pointed questions about what the disturbance is or where it comes from. Sometimes I don’t get a clear answer and other times the answer is very particular. On a number of occasions the information ‘given’ to me is validated by the owner of the home or business, or at a later time when something further is revealed.
Whether moving, having a life transition or just needing a seasonal refresher, a clearing ritual makes a big difference to how a place feels and how supportive it is for your life’s balance. In addition, clearing/blessing rituals open the way for feng shui adjustments to be effective. If you have any further questions, just drop a line and we’ll set up a call.
May you and your family find balance in your summer days
and stay as healthy as possible!
with blessings, Judith / Sacred Currents
