The Feng Shui & The Mid Season

I am sure I am not alone in my disbelief that it is already September. In China and other places in Asia the Mid-Autumn Festival is on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, which is Sept 25th this year. Families gather to eat mooncakes, light lanterns, and appreciate the full moon as a symbol of unity and harmony. Hence, the holiday is also referred to as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival.

Mooncakes are traditional Chinese pastries eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival. They are dense, rich delicacies shared among family and friends to celebrate the autumn harvest and celebrate giving thanks for the harvest and celebrate unity and wholeness.

The Earth Element rules this mid-season. Earth element helps reduce anxiety, build self-care, and support relationships. This time of transition is an excellent period to cultivate stability in relationships and abundance in your life.This mid-season is a propitious time to prepare your home to take advantage of these energetic shifts with a Feng Shui assessment of your home. I recently finished work on a condominium in Long Island City, New York called Skyline 8.

Last but so far from least is the sad news that my friend and colleague Rosalie Prinzivalli passed away on July 26, 2026.

Rosalie graduated from the BTB Professional Feng Shui Training Program in 2000, the year after I. When our teacher Edgar Sung left the program, Rosalie took over as she was an expert in Chinese Astrology and all things Feng Shui. Rosalie continued to teach for many years with Barry Gordon and Steven Post the other 2 founders of the program.

Rosalie was beloved by her students and she was a key reason the BTB program continued. During that period I had the occasion to co-teach with Rosalie on a number of occasions which was always a joy. But it was the quiet lunches we shared learning about each other’s families, that I enjoyed the most. I will miss her along with her students and of course her beloved brothers and extended family. Her life was a blessing.
